Can I attach photos? In Turkey I visited a place, much like a mini-fort, where travellers / caravans on the silk road would stay. I could see that all the people, goods and animals were put in the middle and the walls could be defended by whatever militia was part of the group.

Goggled silk road, and got bugger all, off to check my Atlases, not too sure how ill go but now i'm interested
last time i checked the silk road didn't travel through india but dont lay money on it
